Flipside’s Career Pathways Program provides a framework of complementary activities to support young, early career artists in the first years of professional practice. It includes:
- Trainee Trainer Program that supports young artists to become circus trainers
- AIR Program provides funding and support for artists and companies to develop performances
- Professional engagements in a range of roles
- Professional development, training and masterclasses

Trainee Trainers
The Trainee Trainer Program is an extension course for young circus artists (aged 14 and over) to learn and develop their skills as a circus trainer with a group of peers. By working with professional circus trainers at Flipside, Trainee Trainers build the skills and confidence necessary to lead circus workshops and classes.
Learn how to safely and effectively teach a wide range of circus classes including mixed circus, aerials, juggling/object manipulation, and birthday parties for kids, teens, babies and adults.
Get placed with experienced industry trainers to gain practical experience teaching circus and complete theoretical units on circus skills and teaching (in-person and online). Work with Flipside’s team to gain first-hand admin and venue skill and experience.
This program ensures Trainees are equipped with the practical tools and hands-on experience needed to thrive in Australia's circus industry.
