Flipside has two exciting opportunities for Performance Program participants. We’re seeking expressions of interest to join the 2026 national tour of We Live Here and/or join the development of new collaboration with Chimera Arts and Flipside Circus. Below you’ll find details on each project and an application form.

We Live Here

About the project: We Live Here will perform at the Brisbane Circus Centre before travelling to the Borderville Theatre (Albury Wodonga) as part of Flying Fruit Fly Circus’ National Training Project.

There is also the potential for a West Australian tour that will include performances and residencies with other circus companies.

Who should apply: Young artists who want to perform in a professional context and are available for the performance and tour dates.

Availability: Artists must be available for Brisbane and Albury Wodonga seasons, however as the WA leg is to be confirmed and the dates may vary, artists may still be considered if they are unavailable for this leg.

Note: There is some flexibility with the WA tour. The submission form will ask to please let us know if you might be available for some dates/if you have some flexibility/capacity to participate in the tour. 

Cost: $0. Air fares and accommodation will be covered by Flipside Circus. Flipside will also pay artists a honorarium/stipend to cover costs while on tour however artists may need to cover some ancillary costs. 

We anticipate more EOIs than we have spaces for. Auditions may be held for the creative team to meet the interested artists. Submit your expression of interest here before Tues 24 March.

Connect Project 2026

An opportunity to participate in creative development of a new performance work in collaboration with Chimera Arts.

About Chimera Arts: Chimera Arts is a disability-led arts group that supports emerging artists and celebrates the resilience of professional movement artists with disabilities. Founded by Lauren Watson and Tara Denman, Chimera Arts aims to create a safe space for people with disabilities to explore circus and other movement practices with agency over their own bodies.

About the project: Flipside Circus supported Chimera Arts as part of our 2023-24 Artist-In-Residence (AIR) program and again collaborated as part of the Connect Project in 2024. This project brought Chimera Artists and young artists from Flipside Circus together to collaborate on a new creative concept along with artists from Trix Circus.

In 2026 we wish to re-start this collaboration with a view to creating a new performance work for 2027. This is the first stage of a new development and is about testing the collaboration, finding ways of working together, and exploring creative ideas. Participation in this creative development does not guarantee participation in any further development or performance season.

The project explores the interaction between ground and aerial circus. It is about building connections to recognise our shared, and differing experiences; and movements of balance and in-balance as diverse people with diverse experiences negotiate the world in different ways.

Who should apply: Anyone interested in collaborating on the development of a new work with Chimera Arts. EOIs are encouraged from young artists who identify as disabled or neurodiverse but this is not a requirement of the project.
