I was deeply honoured to accept the Gold Matilda on behalf of Flipside Circus at this year’s Matilda Awards. This award represents the work of literally thousands of artists, staff, board members, and volunteers over the last 30+ years and the achievements of our extraordinary young people.

The Award recognises Flipside’s continuing growth and development since 1994, our body of award-winning performance work, the development and construction of the Brisbane Circus Centre, and our resilience in the face of last year’s fire.

We have had our heads down focussing on survival for most of the last 12-months. Last night’s award – as well as being a little overwhelming – was a great reminder that Flipside is an extraordinary organisation with an amazing history and even brighter future.
