It has been a challenging first half of the year for Flipside – but as we hit the winter solstice there’s change in the air, and the second half of 2024 is looking up.

Repairs at the Brisbane Circus Centre are gathering pace. The roof was removed last week and with re-painting just around the corner we can see the finish line.

Thanks to everyone who came along to the recent one-off performance of The Cubby at the Judith Wright Arts Centre. It was fantastic to be back on stage in front of our community.

Collective Circus – one of our two Artists-In-Residence for 2024 spent last week in Mullumbimby working on their new show, Stir The Pot. I saw a run on Friday; our audiences are in for a treat when the show premieres later this year. I want to thank Collective for being so flexible and thank our friends at Spaghetti Circus for providing space while we were unable to.

Our residency team is on the road at the moment travelling all the way up to the Gulf and working with communities in Croydon, Normanton, Doomadgee, Julia Creek, Richmond, Cherbourg, and Wondai. 

Our Step Ups Troupe have been working on pop-up performances that will be part of Redland Performing Arts Centre’s Kid’s Take Over. Flipside will also be there running aerials classes and circus activiations.

Between now and the end of the year we have three new creative developments and two new collaborations, and another Artist-In-Residence performance.
