Last week the 28 containers that form the walls of the Brisbane Circus Centre were landed and welded into position, as the Flipside Circus team watched.

It was a day Flipside had been looking forward to – after multiple delays due to COVID-19 and the recent floods it was fantastic to see the blocks that will form the next chapter for Flipside Circus, coming together to create a purpose-built home for Queensland’s current and upcoming circus artists.

There is still a way to go with the roof to build, services to be connected, not to mention moving all the equipment from our pop-up space to the new Centre.

The Brisbane Circus Centre is a symbol of the generous and vast support that Flipside has received from our community.

Robert Kronk, CEO of Flipside Circus said, “The walls are a huge milestone for the Brisbane Circus Centre project. We set out on this journey a while ago – our old building was no longer fit for purpose and was slated for demolition.

We wanted to turn this into an opportunity to create a new space – for Flipside and for the community. We wanted to create a space that was uniquely circus – that referenced circus’ history and provided a home for our students, our community, and our artists.
So many people have worked so hard over the last three years to make that dream a reality. It’s amazing to see all that work taking shape as Stage 1 of the building becomes real. We can’t wait to open the doors and share it with everyone.”
Flipside would like to extend a special thank to each and every one of our donors and supporters, that have helped make the impossible possible.
The Brisbane Circus Centre project is supported by the Australian Government, the Queensland Government, Creative Partnerships Australia and Northshore.

Flipside still has a way to go to reach its fundraising target to complete Stage 1. If you would like to help Flipside continue its mission to empower communities through circus and support current and emerging artists click here.
